On May 5, 2024, during the Children’s Day event at Portland Japanese Garden, I got to display a collection of dollar bill origami, aligned with my origami workshop.

This small dollar bill origami collection that I put together was a tribute to my late friend Janessa Munt, who passed away on February 3, 2023. Since the display at the event was brief, I searched for another opportunity to exhibit it, and finally, it was selected to be in display at West Linn Public Library in the month of January 2025!

The collection includes Janessa’s original dollar bill designs folded by Janessa, Jared Needle, Boice Wong and me (Yuki Martin), as well as original dollar bill designs by Jared Needle and Kara Fedrigon.

In addition to the dollar bill origami, there was a small collection of not-dollar bill original origami by Boice, Jared and me in a separate display case.

Aligned with this exhibit, I taught a Dollar Bill Origami program at West Linn Public Library.

This dollar bill origami collection is still available for exhibit at public venues and private galleries. They are small and do not take up much space, however, a case with a secure lock is required. Furthermore, I am available for dollar origami workshops and commissions of replicas, aligned with the exhibit.

The proceeds from the exhibit, including the dollar model replica sales and workshops, would be donated to OrigamiUSA, the American national society devoted to the art of paperfolding (per permission from Janessa’s father, the rightful intellectual property owner). The donation would be used directly to vitalize Origami Cafe, OrigamiUSA’s online social space in the Gather platform, which was designed by Janessa. If you feel compelled, please donate directly to OrigamiUSA with a note, “In honor of Janessa, for Origami Cafe.” Thank you!
